We were very excited at the December adoption event at Petsense in Safford, as Carmen was adopted and went to a new home. Carmen is one of the 17 starved dogs that we took in and the friendliest one of them. She wanted to be someone's friend, she wanted to live in the house and loved to jump in the truck to go for a ride. Carmen is doing well in her new loving home!
As Rexxy the Two Legged Wonder Dog dances for veterans at the Gila Valley Veterans Resource Fair we were exposed to the need for service dogs for veterans in the Gila Valley. Many vets stopped by to ask about obtaining a service dog or having their own dog trained and certified. I've begun making contact with these veterans to start the process for their special companions! Contact New Leash on Life below and we will get back to you.
Rollo was one of those special rescue dogs that I wanted to keep for myself, he had such a loving personality and loved giving hugs, he just wrapped his arms around you. Then Sarah contacted me, she said that she was visually impaired and looking for a service dog locally in Safford, without having to go the the Phoenix or Tucson area. Rollo was the obvious choice for her. Rollo has been with Sarah for 6 months now and goes everywhere with her. They came by the Petsense store in Safford to visit while we were there with the National Adoption Day. There were lots of hugs from Rollo and a few tears were shed. We are very happy that we were able to help Sarah and that Rollo found his perfect home!
About 4 weeks ago New Leash on Life was contacted by Graham County officials to assist with an animal hoarding situation involving starving dogs and cats. Upon assessing the home with the Graham County Fiduciary, New Leash worked with the county to have a judge issue an order for the removal of the animals from the home. New Leash on Life removed the animals and placed them with a foster where the re-feeding process began. In only a few short weeks the dogs have gained weight, their coats are shiny and volunteers have been working with them getting them ready to be adopted into loving homes. The next step will be to the veterinarian for all of them for shots and a final check up before they are put up for adoption. If you are interested in adopting any of these dogs please contact us. Photos below are just a few of them.
Come on down to the Petsense store in Safford for our adoption day, the third Saturday of every month, we will have dogs, cats, and piglets for adoptions and if you are looking for a particular pet we can help you find them. We have cats and kittens available most every day at the adoption center inside Petsence, they go fast, all are fully vetted and altered.
With the help of petsense in Safford and Rescue Me Tucson we have adopted out nearly 500 dogs and cats in the last 12 months. All animals are fully vetted and altered before adoption.
At New Leash, our mission is to provide shelter, food, and an eventual forever home and family for all animals in need. It has been our experience that animals in need are in crisis mode, with animals of all types needing someone to take them in and give them a chance. We give them that chance. From dogs and cats, to horses and pigs all animals deserve a chance.
